Ryan W. Young is a co-founder of the OC Trial Group and acts as one of the primary Trial attorneys. Mr. Young represents individual and corporate clients throughout the state of California.  Mr. Young’s litigation career is rooted in his national law firm experience where he litigated on behalf of the 15th largest law firm in the country.  He brings this “big law” experience to OC Trial Group to efficiently resolve matters for our clients. 

Areas of Practice

Mr. Young focuses his practice on the representation of clients in trust administration, pre-litigation trust disputes, trust litigation, real estate, and business matters.  Mr. Young prosecutes and defends actions on behalf of individual and corporate trustees in the exercise of their fiduciary duties.  He has also advised trustees regarding their duties and obligations when administering trusts holding high net-worth assets, including their roles as corporate shareholders, directors, and officers.  He also represents clients to protect their rights as beneficiaries. Mr. Young has successfully advised clients regarding the distribution of trust assets involving residential and commercial real estate, businesses, and complex financial issues involving many beneficiaries with conflicting interests.

Mr. Young has also represented individuals and businesses, including multi-national corporations in a variety of litigated matters, including personal injury, intellectual property, real estate, corporate governance, construction, employment law, product liability, general liability, commercial litigation, and governmental liability.

Although Mr. Young has a breadth of litigation experience in state and federal courts involving complex and class action matters, he takes pride in helping clients identify opportunities for strategic resolution of their matters to avoid costly and protracted litigation.  

Melissa Salazar
Office Manager

Melissa Salazar holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She also earned her Health Coaching Certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

As the Office Manager at OC Trial Group, Melissa ensures the seamless operation of the office and the well-being of the team. Her dual expertise in office management and health coaching allows her to foster a healthy and productive work environment.

In addition to her role at OC Trial Group, Melissa is an accomplished Data Scientist. She has developed numerous applications, interactive reports, and dashboards, primarily using R. Self-taught in R, Melissa enjoys sharing her knowledge with colleagues and through workshops. Her expertise and passion for data science have led her to present her work at multiple conferences, including international venues.

Melissa has a strong track record of collaborating with various departments to optimize workflows by developing data-driven and technical solutions. While she often works behind the scenes, she values the opportunity to engage directly with her colleagues and learn from their experiences.

Melissa’s innovative approach in data science has been recognized in the California Water Data Challenge, where she earned two awards for her outstanding analysis and contributions to water data and human health.

Melissa’s dedication to excellence and continuous learning makes her an invaluable asset to OC Trial Group, both in managing the office and advancing the health and wellness of the team.

Cole McCarville
Law Clerk

Cole McCarville holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Management Option from California State Long Beach. Currently, on the path to becoming an attorney, Cole is leveraging his educational background and passion for the law to make significant contributions to our team at OC Trial Group.

In his role at OC Trial Group, Cole is responsible for assisting in conducting legal research, maintaining consistent communications with the firm’s clients, and assisting attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions. He plays a key role in contributing to the overall effectiveness and success of the firm’s legal strategies and success.

Beyond his technical skills, Cole is recognized for his exceptional interpersonal abilities and collaborative spirit. Through his dedication and hard work, Cole significantly contributes to the firm’s mission of delivering outstanding legal services to our clients. He is a vital part of our team, and his passion for the law and continuous professional growth underscore his bright future in the legal field.

Mia Calabretta 
Legal Assistant

Mia is a dedicated Legal Assistant with a strong foundation in American Studies, earned from California State University, Fullerton. Born and raised in Orange County, she brings a deep understanding of the local community and a passion for upholding justice. Her work has been recognized and published in The American Papers

With a strong attention to detail and a keen eye for organization, she efficiently handles a wide range of legal tasks, including document preparation, legal research, case management, and client communication. She is a proactive and resourceful individual with a strong problem-solving ability. Mia’s determination and work ethic has led the already dynamic team to improve efficiency and streamline processes.

Blaine M. Brown, Esq.
Litigation Attorney

Blaine M. Brown is a co-founder of the OC Trial Group and acts as one of their primary trial attorneys. Mr. Brown is a highly awarded and reviewed trial attorney who has been named to Best Lawyers’ annual list of “Ones to Watch” and has also been rated by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star.” He has also earned an Avvo rating of “Superb 10/10” and recognition as a “Top 40 Under 40 Trial Layer” by the National Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Brown represents clients in a variety of matters, including trust and estate matters (trust litigation and trust administration), financial elder abuse actions, fraud actions, business disputes, and real estate disputes, wrongful death, and personal injury actions.

One of Mr. Brown’s recent trust litigation matters earned an award from Top Verdict as the #1 Settlement in 2022 for Elder Financial Abuse, Constructive Fraud, and Embezzlement in the State of California. Other successful results include numerous 7 figure ($1,500,000, $1,300,000, $1,000,000, etc.) pre-trial and trial settlements in trust and estate litigation matters involving financial elder abuse, undue influence, fraud, and trustee removal, as well as numerous defense judgments on behalf of clients who were the trustee of a trust and claimed to have committed breaches of fiduciary duty, breaches of trust, undue influence, and fraud.

Mr. Brown is also an active board member of the Veteran’s Legal Institute and an active member of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association.
